Lawn mowing
We provide our customers with professional lawn mowing services, including the following features and options.

- Our best plan includes weekly mowing during the growing season, less often at other times.
- A reduced cost plan provides semi-monthly mowing. Note: With this service the lawn does not look as good.
- Edging of the lawn either weekly or semi-weekly.
- Alternate mowing pattern on larger sized pieces of lawn.
- Adjust mowing height to suit turfgrass species, seasonal requirements, and microclimate growing conditions.
We really excel at caring for lawns. As a result you will find expertise and services from us that may not be available elsewhere. This is no joke. You will have no difficulty finding ignorance about lawns among landscape contractors, especially the newcomers, so be warned!
- Aeration. Commonly called plugging, this valuable service maximizes water and fertilizer penetration. (Did you know that the City of Gresham actually paid people to aerate their lawns one year, to help reduce water consumption.) It also allows for transpiration of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the root zone.
- Thatching. Done properly, this can really help an ailing lawn. However, if done improperly, an unknowing contractor can destroy your lawn. We actually use three different types of lawn thatchers, each for a specific purpose and/or type of grass. Click here for a good war story. (Have not written it yet.)
- Overseeding. Sometimes lawns get sparse and thin. When done properly, this may be the best solution. However, you do need professional advice to avoid numerous pitfalls.
- Aeration, thatching, and overseeding. This three in one package when done on an annual basis, provides the best of the above three. Although not cheap, it surely does wonders for the lawn.
Fertilization services
Keeping grass green
- We fertilize for optimal turf health and appearance.
- Frequent applications at reduced strength provide healthy green grass at your site year-round..
- We use custom blended fertilizers, specifically designed for the Pacific Northwest, specifically for west of the Cascade mountains
- Our most common lawn fertilization service includes six applications per year, plus one limestone application. However, we can provide you with other options.
- Don't expect to see weeds in your lawn. We keep them out!
Healthy shrubs
Well established plants in the Portland area usually need little additional fertilizer. However, new plantings need to grow. As a result we offer shrub fertilizing at two times.
- Late winter. At this time we fertilize most or all plants in your landscape.
- Late spring. This application is used just for plants that we want to grow.
Growing trees
Trees, and some shrubs as well, do best with a special type of fertilizer that is applied directly to the root zone.
Deep root feeding. We use special equipment to inject liquid fertilizer directly into the root zone. Surface runoff becomes impossible, and the roots can immediately absorb the needed nutrients.
Shrub bed services
Our shrub bed services are designed to keep your shrub bed areas looking good all year long. You don't need to let them become ugly between times of cleanup, since we keep them looking sharp at all times.
- Weed control. We control weeds safely and effectively.
- Fall leaf cleanup. Depending on the needs of your landscape, we provide from one to five visits per year.
- Mulch application. Barkdust is usually applied in late winter. Compost can be applied in summer or winter.
Pruning services
We prefer a "Natural look" in pruning. Unless told otherwise, we prune what should be pruned and shear what should be sheared. Our most popular pruning services include:
- Winter. This is generally the best time to prune, since the plants are dormant.
- Summer. If some of your plants become ragged during the growing season, we offer the option of pruning them lightly during summer months.
- Flowering shrubs. The flowering plants that we so enjoy in Oregon often have their own special pruning needs. We try to prune them at the optimum time for best flower production.

- Hedge shearing. Some hedges need multiple shearings per year, while others should only be sheared once. We advise you what is best for your situation.
- Roses. As the City of Roses, Portland grows some of the best roses in the world. Our expert pruning crew can prune for large blooms for cutting OR for magnificent landscape displays. Please ask more about our care plans for roses, since we have many options.
- Pine tree candling. Most people just let their pine trees grow willy-nilly. They can look ever so much better when pruned professionally. Again, ask about this service.
- Cloud shearing. This is a special type of shearing that most people confuse with bonsai pruning. If you need this form of pruning, you already know what it is.
Spray services
We offer a wide variety of spray services. These may be part of an annual maintenance plan or a la carte. Popular services include:
- Insecticide program for shrubbery.
- Root weevil control.
- Spider mite control.
- Dormant oil.
- Blackberry control.
- Lawn weed control.
- Crane fly control.
Annual flowers
Nothing brightens spring and brings on summer like fresh flowers. Although spring is very hectic for us, we try to accommodate your needs for planting of annual flowers.
We can supply flowers for commonly used varieties, provided we have advance notice.
Pick out and purchase your own flowers if you like. We'll plant them for you.
Sprinkler services
We offer a fairly complete maintenance program for sprinkler systems. Service options include:
- Repair of sprinklers.
- Winterize sprinkler system (blow out with compressed air).
- Spring tune up (turn on, clean, and adjust sprinklers).
- Monitor clock throughout the watering season, as part of an annual maintenance plan.

- Landscape cleanup. Often this is needed before ongoing maintenance begins.
- Planting of shrubs and trees.
