Flower Insignificant
Season of Bloom Has small red fruit with wings in late spring.
Leaves Palmate, not deeply lobed like Japanese Maple. 4-6” across with some bronzing on new growth. Fall color often spectacular, red, orange or yellow.
Pests Verticillium root rot in wet areas.
Preferred Habitat Shade to part sun. Can withstand full sun but foliage is known to burn against buildings on west or south side.
