Heavenly Bamboo

Nandina domestica, Heavenly bambooTalk about plant versatility! This long lived evergreen boasts both flowers and berries. Rejuvenation pruning can be used to keep it visually in the prime of its youth. Additionally it performs well in many different settings including both sun and shade.

Nandina is not a true bamboo and therefore does not spread underground like many running bamboos. It is perhaps the most ideal landscaping plant where a narrow plant with some height is required. Narrow beds, against homes or fences are ideal. It's no wonder that just about every landscaper in Portland, Oregon uses this wonderful plant.
